ECD Facilitator(s) - TLS

Project Background:

The Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) initiative aims to provide safe, structured, and inclusive early learning opportunities for children affected by crises and vulnerabilities. The program supports holistic Early Childhood Development (ECD) through structured play-based learning, caregiver engagement, and protection-focused activities in emergency and unstable contexts. TLS centers operate across multiple locations to ensure continuity of learning and psychosocial support for children under 5 years old.

Scope of Work:

 

  • Conduct structured ECD sessions for children aged 0–5 years using play-based and developmentally appropriate approaches.
  • Conduct one-on-one assessments with caregivers of children under 5 to identify developmental needs and provide tailored guidance and support.
  • Deliver one-on-one awareness sessions to caregivers covering topics including early childhood developmental stages, vaccination and immunization awareness, child danger signs, infant and young child nutrition practices, safe and stimulating home environments, and positive parenting practices.
  • Facilitate weekly group awareness sessions for caregivers covering ECD and child wellbeing topics.
  • Support caregiver engagement and encourage positive caregiving practices through interactive activities and demonstrations.
  • Provide preventive nutritional supplements, when available, according to project guidelines and supervisor instructions.
  • Ensure child safeguarding and adherence to PSEA and child protection standards at all times.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate activities while maintaining a safe and well-managed learning environment.
  • Monitor attendance and contribute to daily and weekly reporting tools.
  • Identify vulnerable cases and report concerns to the supervisor following established referral pathways.
  • Coordinate with center teams to ensure smooth implementation of TLS activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper use of learning and recreational materials within the TLS space.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

 

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with children under 5 years old in ECD, education, community, or humanitarian settings.
  • Good understanding of child development principles and play-based learning methodologies.
  • Experience conducting caregiver awareness sessions and community engagement activities is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with caregivers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage groups of young children in structured and emergency settings.
  • Knowledge of child safeguarding and PSEA principles is preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in Arabic; basic English is an advantage.

 

  • Previous NGO or humanitarian experience.
  • Training in ECD, IYCF, nutrition, or psychosocial support.
  • Experience working in Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS), shelters, or community centers.
