Working within Amel team in the headquarter office, The Finance Officer/Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the overall and efficiency of the Finances related to Amel projects. This involves establishing and streamlining processes with adherence to donor requirements and regulations as well as developing and overseeing financial matters of Amel programs and projects. Additionally, s/he will be responsible for representing the organization to donors. S/he will report to the Executive Director and will be part of the Finance Department (that includes accountant and finance officer). S/he will work in close collaboration with the Program/Project Coordinators.
The position is located in Amel’s Headquarter Office in Mussaitbeh. Working hours are officially from 9:00-5:00, Monday-Friday but can vary according to load of work and deadline completion.
Responsibilities
Financial Management
Strengthen, implement and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to financial and administrative internal and external controls (petty cash, procurement, purchase request/orders, reimbursement policies, etc.)
Generalize the use of an accounting software among the finance department
Support capacity building of the staff (HQ and in the field) in relation with finance management
Support the fundraising officer and the program/project coordinators in developing budget and contribute, in close collaboration with the Executive Director, to the approval of the budgets
Represent the organization to donors and respond to donor recommendations in areas of finance management
Ensure in close collaboration with the Program Coordinator/Project Coordinators timely and accurate preparation and submission of financial reports to donors and partners.
Contribute to the standard accounting tasks such as monthly bank reconciliation, expenditure reports accurate and up to date.
Analyze the financial situation of the organization, develop recommendations to ensure financial sustainability of the whole organization and contribute to their implementation
Prospect new possibilities of funding (including private sources)
Improve the stock management follow-up system (at HQ and in the field)
Other tasks as requested by Executive Management.
