Health Officer (Hq)

Amel is a Lebanese and non-sectarian NGO created in 1979. Amel works through 24 centers and 6 mobile medical units since more than 35 years in the poorest regions of Lebanon, from Beirut and its South Suburbs to Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and South Lebanon. Amel is offering accessible services for all in following fields: medical, psychosocial, professional training, rural development, child protection and human rights promotion. Assignment The Health Officer is based in Beirut, with occasional field visits to the Bekaa, Beirut and South Lebanon. He/She works under the direct supervision of the Medical Coordinator and works in coordination with the Program Coordinators and the Protection Coordinators on the implementation of Amel’s health programs. Duties and responsibilities:   Visit medical projects in the Bekaa, South Lebanon, and Beirut and draft field visit reports including updates related to awareness sessions, consultations path, vulnerability criteria and challenges in the field; Support the Program Coordinator with financial and narrative reporting of all health program activities; Support the Medical Coordinator in providing technical guidance, including key health concepts and referral path, and supervising the health program staff; Support the Heads of centers in scheduling the doctor’s consultations according to project implementation and patients’ needs; Assist in the supervision of the consumption, needs and procurement of equipment, drugs, medical supplies and furniture; Provide administrative support to ensure that program operations are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner and communicate this accordingly; Be the focal point for data entry, including morbidity charts and other health indicators, archiving and documentation of health activities in hard and soft copy; Service the office, answering hotline and recording information communicated; Liaise with field team to gather and disseminate information and documents as required; Work closely with the team to assist in  archiving files and completing the required back up documentation for all activities;   Work closely with the health team to update the patients tracking sheet including all medical administrative and financial input and send on a daily basis; Attend coordination meetings with partners and donors and draft minutes of meeting; Fulfill any other related tasks that may be assigned by the Medical Coordinator and Program Coordinator.   SKILLS   1)     Prior experience with NGOs preferably in relation with field work and health ; 2)     Very good written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English; 3)     Able to work under pressure; 4)     Knowledge of the Lebanese health context; 5)     Team work; 6)     Pack office (including Excel) ; 7)     French (Asset)
