Legal Assistant

Task 1: Planning and Implementaion responsibilities

  • Conduct basic interviews with beneficiaries in order to assess legal and urgent protection needs and concerns.
  • Provide legal information to beneficiaries on the main legal issues encountered.
  • Provide counseling on legal issues and memos including birth and marriage registration.
  • Conduct interviews and counseling on Legal Residency procedures (issuance and renewal).
  • Provide counseling on Labor Law.
  • Plan and facilitate awareness sessions for the community on different legal topics.
  • Attend meetings and workshops/training as requested by the Program Coordinator.
  • Submit monthly quantitative and qualitative reports.

Task 2: Facilitation responsibilities

  • Filing and maintaining case history reports
  • Planning regular follow-ups to assess progress and additional needs.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the team and the GBV Program Coordinator.

Other tasks:

  • Respect and abide by the organization's internal code of conduct.
  • Adhere to the principles and guidance of the National SGBV Case Management and SOPs, including mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Represent Amel Association, when requested and necessary.
  • Attend and participate in local and capacity-building events as needed/Actively participate in training throughout the year.
  • Be available to attend and participate in internal and external meetings.
  • Meetings with other program staff are required and will be on a timely basis.
  • Maintain positive relations with other team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the GBV Program Coordinator.

Requirements: 

  • Education: MA in Law, registered in the lawyer’s syndicate.
  • Experience: Desirable 5 years of relevant experience
  • Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English 
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles in regard to working with vulnerable populations, ability to work as part of a team, and participate in all activities of the GBV-SRH Program.
