Amel Association International (Amel) is a Lebanese and non-sectarian NGO created in 1979. Amel works through 30 centres, 6 mobile medical units, 2 mobile education units and 1 mobile protection unit, and for more than 40 years has supported the poorest regions of Lebanon, from Beirut and its South Suburbs to Mount Lebanon, Beqaa and South Lebanon. Amel offers accessible services for all in the following fields: food security, health, education, protection, child protection, gender-based violence, livelihood, promotion and protection of human rights and rural development.
Job Summary:
The midwife works under the supervision of the Field officer, to ensure quality healthcare services. He/She plays a major role in providing expectant mothers with compassionate and expert care throughout their pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum periods. Midwives have a range of duties that include obstetrical / Gynecological assessment, care, counseling, and education. The main responsibility will be to deliver comprehensive midwifery services, focusing on underserved communities, and contribute to the organization's mission of improving maternal and child healthcare outcomes.
Main Responsibilities:
Working Hours, Schedule, and Conditions:
- The midwife will be working 6 days per week, according to the schedule
- He/She is part of a multidisciplinary team, composed of a doctor, a nurse, a social worker, a midwife, and a driver. The position requires close coordination with the field officer and the head of the center.
- The job responsibilities include working under the project's log-frame to achieve targets set
- The midwife is responsible for his transportation to and from work
- Abide by Amel's values, regulations, laws, and vision when working with hosting and refugee communities
- Communicate with the community to ensure their knowledge of the project/ PHCC services.
Field Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive prenatal checkups, including physical exams and medical history reviews.
- Identifying high-risk pregnancies and referring such patients to the relevant medical specialists.
- Doing routine checkups, such as collecting patient’s samples and taking their blood pressure and temperature.
- Provide essential health education to expectant mothers regarding nutrition, exercise, and overall wellness.
- Collaboration with other health and social care experts to ensure that moms and newborns continue to receive postnatal care.
- Offer postpartum care and support to new mothers, including breastfeeding assistance and emotional well-being checks.
- Provide guidance on newborn care and parenting techniques.
- Provide health education sessions on prenatal and postnatal care, family planning, and reproductive health.
- Educate expectant parents on their delivery options, such as birth plans and pain management options.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to address any fear related to pregnancy and birth
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.
- Ensure proper implementation of the necessary healthcare protocols and treatment plan
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to organize complete patient-centered care.

Educational Degree and Details
➔ Permit to practice as a midwife, must have a current and valid state license.
Have a BS degree in midwifery certification from a university approved by the Lebanese Ministry of Education
➔ Have an active participation card to the Lebanese Order of Midwives or being in the process of registration
