Amel Association International (Amel) is a Lebanese and non-sectarian NGO created in 1979. Amel works through 50 centers, 12 mobile units, and for more than 40 years has supported the poorest regions of Lebanon, from Beirut and its South Suburbs to Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and South Lebanon. Amel offers accessible services for all in the following fields: food security, health, education, protection, child protection, gender-based violence, livelihood, promotion and protection of human rights, and rural development.
The Part-time Psychiatrist will be responsible for providing mental health services for beneficiaries as well as supporting PHCC Staff with mental health screening and assessment.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Provide mental health consultations at the PHCCs..
- Provide structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation and usage of ICD10 terminology.
- Collect data from beneficiaries and fill out the necessary forms for each session conducted.
- Ensure efficient data collection by filling in the Mental Health database on a daily basis for each beneficiary.
- Develop a consistent and acceptable treatment plan with clear objectives and refer patients to other professionals when needed.
- Abide by the recommended MOPH list of psychotropic and neurological medications for prescriptions.
- Monitor and evaluate the psychological progress of the beneficiary.
- Make necessary and timely referrals when needed, respecting confidentiality and the beneficiary’s right.
- Hold regular meetings with the mental health team to follow up on the beneficiaries’ status and psychosocial intervention.
- Provide Clinical supervision and lead training and support for PHC staff when necessary.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Medical degree required - MD in Psychiatry, with Psychiatry degree registered at the Lebanese Order of Psychiatrists
- 1-3 years of work experience
- Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage
- Previous experience in working with children and vulnerable populations is an advantage
