Amel Association International (Amel) is a Lebanese and non-sectarian NGO created in 1979. Amel works through 27 centers, 6 mobile medical units, 2 mobile education units and 1 protection unit, and for more than 40 years has supported the poorest regions of Lebanon, from Beirut and its South Suburbs to Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and South Lebanon. Amel offers accessible services for all in the following fields: food security, health, education, protection, child protection, gender-based violence, livelihood, promotion and protection of human rights, rural development.

Description: 

The responsibilities of physiotherapists include planning treatments, reviewing recovery, and conducting therapeutic exercises with patients.Physiotherapists assist patients in rehabilitating physical problems caused by illness, injury, disability or aging, through treatment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients to determine whether physiotherapy interventions are necessary.
  • Assess patients in accordance with the professional practice guidelines and standards.
  • Treat patients with movement disorders that were acquired through injury or have been present since birth.
  • Regularly measure patient progress by looking for signs of decreased stiffness, pain, and discomfort.
  • Refer patients to other specialists for massages, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, or other specialized treatments
  • Recommend new tools and equipment to assist patients with regular exercise.
  • Evaluate effects of therapy treatment and communicate patients' progress
  • Record and document patient care services
  • Collaborate with other team personnel to achieve well-rounded care.
  • Ensure good working knowledge of national and local standards and monitor quality as
    appropriate

  • Communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and
    treatment, providing the patient with good understanding of their conditions and maximise
    their rehabilitation potential.

  • Using specialist techniques such as electrotherapy and ultrasound.

  • Writing reports.

  • Providing education and advice about exercise and movement.

  • Referring patients to doctors and other medical practitioners.

 

Required professional skills and knowledge

  • Experience working as a physiotherapist.
  • The ability to build and maintain rapport with patients.
  • Good time management
  • The ability to build a rapport with patients from a variety of backgrounds and communicate with their relatives and carers
