Background
As part of the LHF-funded education project, a holistic approach is adopted to support the academic and emotional development of children affected by displacement and adversity. In addition to academic learning, the project integrates a well-being component to address mental health challenges through structured psychosocial and psychological support within the education centers.
Purpose of the Position
The Psychotherapist plays a vital role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of children enrolled in the program. The role encompasses direct psychological support, establishing identification and referral pathways, and close collaboration with team members to ensure timely and appropriate care for at-risk children.
Key Responsibilities
- Identification and Referral Mechanisms
- Develop and implement mechanisms for identifying children in need of psychological support in collaboration with the Social Worker, Field Officer, and Animators.
- Maintain and apply clear referral criteria and follow-up processes within the center.
- Ensure all referrals and support decisions are documented, confidential, and child-centered.
- Direct Psychological Support
- Conduct one-on-one psychological support sessions for children with emotional, behavioral, or trauma-related challenges.
- Perform initial assessments, develop individual support plans, and document progress while maintaining confidentiality.
- Facilitate small group therapy or psychosocial support sessions where appropriate.
- Provide guidance to caregivers and parents when relevant to support children’s well-being at home.
- Team Coordination and Capacity Support
- Collaborate actively with the Social Worker, Field Officer, Field Coordinator, and Animators to ensure integrated and responsive psychosocial support.
- Participate in case discussions, weekly coordination meetings, and joint planning of well-being interventions.
- Provide informal consultation or guidance to team members on psychosocial issues affecting children.
- Contribute to internal trainings or awareness sessions to strengthen the psychosocial capacity of the education team.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Ensure that all assessments, interventions, and follow-ups are accurately documented and securely stored.
- Submit activity reports and maintain beneficiary records in line with data protection and ethical standards.
- Support monitoring and evaluation efforts related to the psychosocial component of the program.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Licensed to practice by the Ministry of Public Health.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in child-focused psychological support, preferably in humanitarian or educational contexts.
- Strong clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child protection, and do-no-harm principles.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital reporting tools.
Working Conditions
- The Psychotherapist will work part-time in the afternoons and will be based at the designated education center(s).
- Occasional travel may be required for training, team coordination, or support across project locations.
