Description: 

Psychotherapists are trained to relate to and treat people who are distressed, and work to alleviate personal suffering and encourage change. Psychotherapists interact with beneficiaries with the aim of facilitating changes and further development. They deal with the diagnosis and planned treatment through scientific and psychotherapeutic methods.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual therapy sessions with beneficiaries and monitor/document their progress using different scales.
  • Assess, identify, and treat symptoms and disorders resulting or triggered by the blast or any other traumatic incident - mainly PTSD, ASD, Adjustment Disorder, severe depression and anxiety, and/or anything related after applicants are screened at a previous stage with MH scales.
  • Administer psychological clinical diagnosis (Initial, and final one if present)
  • Provide psychological first aid (PFA).
  • Identify needs and interventions needed.
  • Fill mental health reports/case files for each beneficiary.
  • Assist in the coordination of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities among different mental health staff and with PHC staff.
  • Coordinate with the case-management team (social workers, community mental health workers) on the implementation of all MH interventions and activities.
  • Utilize the referral system between community and PHC Centre as well as to secondary treatment level.
  • Prepare awareness/training sessions about MHPSS guidelines for Primary Health Care centers. In coordination with MH Coordinator, train MDM’s case-management team as well as partner’s staff and community members on MHPSS issues.
  • participate in establishing and implementing innovative PSS activities, including group support.
  • Commit with clinical documentation of all individual and other MH activities.
  • Make sure the appointments are properly scheduled and respected.

reporting, meeting and documentation

  • daily data collection and entry, respecting deadlines.
  • Monthly reporting on mental health activities.
  • Participate in regular meetings with key actors, NGOs/INGOs and PHC, hospital.
  • Participate in and take the minutes of internal meetings and individual meetings.

Required professional skills and knowledge

  1. Assessment skills:
  • Ability to provide structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation.
  • Ability to recognize mental health priority conditions as per the MH GAP
  • Ability to use standardized assessment tools.
  1. Management skills:
  • Ability   to       developing      a    consistent     and    acceptable treatment plan with clear objectives
  • Skilled in at least one evidenced-based psychotherapy approach
  • Using different relaxation & stress management techniques
  • Monitoring and evaluating the psychological progress of the client.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision or leading trainings is a plus.
  1. Skilled in in or willing to build their capacity and knowledge in:
  • Developing family-centered, goal and strength focused, recovery oriented care plan
  • Mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, MH GAP…)
  • Biopsychosocial model in mental health.
  • Human rights-based approach in mental health.

EDUCATION DEGREE DETAILS

  • MA in Clinical Psychology. ( Licensed Psychotherapist are accepted only)
  • Lebanese colloquium certificate for clinical psychologists.
  • License to practice the clinical psychology profession from the Ministry of Public Health.
  • A completed clinical training/practicum in a university center       consisting of at least 100 hours of training under supervision and 300 hours of applied training.

  • Ability to develop rapport with the patient
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Interviewing skills
  • Cultural sensitivity

Skills:

Experience in using evidence-based approach in mental health (e.g., IPT, CBT,TF-CBT, EMDR)
