The Safeguarding and AAP officer will work under the supervision of the Program Coordinators, in close collaboration with other relevant colleagues from support and other sectors. He / She will be supporting Health and Protection (CP/GBV/CBP/OP).
The officer will be based in Beirut with regular field visits to the projects’ sites.
Main Tasks:
AAP:
- Facilitate meaningful participation of affected communities in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Promote inclusive decision-making processes, with attention to marginalized and vulnerable groups.
- Further develop and maintain accessible feedback and complaints mechanisms tailored to community preferences.
- Analyze feedback data to identify trends and improve program quality.
- Develop communication materials in accessible formats and languages.
- Consolidate guidelines for feedback sessions or surveys with participants and children.
- Implement the feedback channels (quantitative, qualitative, and participatory data collection) and handle the overall feedback information management and reporting.
Safeguarding:
- Consolidate and ensure the implementation of safeguarding policies and guidelines across all programs and activities.
- Conduct regular training for staff, volunteers, and partners on safeguarding principles, including prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA).
- Follow up on awareness raising among communities on safeguarding measures and reporting mechanisms.
- Conduct safeguarding risk assessments for projects, activities, and operational contexts.
- Recommend mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
- Establish and monitor confidential and survivor-centered reporting mechanisms.
- Act as the focal point for receiving and managing safeguarding concerns in line with organizational protocols.
- Work with relevant teams to ensure timely investigation and resolution of safeguarding cases.
- Provide technical support to teams on safeguarding and AAP principles and practices.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., HR, M&E, Protection) and external stakeholders to align safeguarding and AAP initiatives.
- Represent the organization in relevant working groups or coordination mechanisms.
Qualifications, Skills and Knolwedge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Development, Human Rights, or related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in safeguarding, protection, or accountability in humanitarian or development settings.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding policies, AAP frameworks, and PSEA standards.
- Experience in designing and implementing community feedback mechanisms.
- Familiarity with cultural contexts and working with vulnerable populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong training and facilitation abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
