Social Worker - Education Project

The social worker is based Haret Hreik AMEL Communty Center, s/he works under the supervision of the Head of Center and report to her.  The social worker is based in the Center where educational activities are organized. Exceptionnaly, in addition to the working agreement, the social worker might have to work unconventional hours whenever there is a major activity (community event, celebration, etc.)   Tasks and duties Task #1/ Coordinate the educational activities: -          Assess the needs and priorities of the targeted beneficiaries and define suitable activities based on participatory approach; -          Design the most efficient repartition of children among classes / teachers / grades to maximize the quality of NFE activities -          Supervise the team of teachers, paying a particular attention to pedagogic skills and quality of teaching, respect of the children, attendance, etc. -          Follow-up attendance to the sessions, report absences and propose appropriate measures when needed; -          Develop and follow-up on educational activities, transportation, distribution of healthy meal, awareness sessions, and recreational activities for all targeted beneficiaries, according to the project proposal. -          In collaboration with the head of center, coordinate the organization of a monthly Community Event that should target children, caregivers and community members. Task #2/ Social counseling and awareness sessions  -          Arrange social counseling for individual cases, namely children seeking for assistance in educational and social field;   -          Design and animate monthly awareness sessions for community members on different relevant topics. Coordinate the outreach activities for these awareness sessions (flyers, call to families, Youth Committees, etc). -          Create, develop and maintain an appropriate network of institutions, NGOs and relevant partners (in the area and further) in the concerned field of activity; -          Organize referrals and follow-up cases in coordination with the Psychologist. Task #3/ Outreach activities   The Social Worker will assist the Head of Center in developing full understanding of the refugee population profile in Lebanon, their protection concerns and needs by: • Conducting field visits • Collecting data and updating a database • Conducting surveys and studies if needed Through networking and outreach activities, the social worker is responsible to:   • Identify and register all targeted beneficiaries in need of educational and psycho-social support and provide them with appropriate activities; Ensure that the target of the project is respected (150 children, 1200 community members in 10 months) and keep the data base up to date. • Support the other social workers in charge of the livelihood activities to identify youth and men in need of life skills and vocational trainings or educational support. Task #4/ Monitoring and evaluation: In coordination with the Head of center, the social worker has the responsibility of assessing the activities with the children by designing and filling evaluation tools such as:             • Organize a monthly meeting with teachers and animators.              • Design initial or final test to assess the progress of the children Task #5 / Reporting / Meetings -          Prepare weekly reports on activities for the field coordinator and head of center, according to the template provided. -          Prepare one Success Story per month, based on the information collected with the children. -          Prepare on Human Interest Story per month, based on the template provided, in collaboration with the Psychologist. -          Provide pictures of the activities on a weekly basis. -          Provide additional information upon request. -          Collect the different means of verifications agreed in the project proposal and provide them to the project team upon request (attendance sheet, list of children per bus, etc). -          Attend and actively participate to weekly staff meeting; Participate, as requested, in workshops, trainings and coordination meetings intended to improve professional knowledge and skills relevant to assigned responsibilities. Other duties -      Assist the center responsible in planning, monitoring, evaluation and follow up on all activities of the community center; -      Mobilize community support and participation in the various community based activities; -       Facilitate field visits with project team, donors or exceptional visitors -      Perform other duties as may be assigned.
