Amel Association International (Amel) is a Lebanese and non-sectarian Non-Governmental Organisation created in 1979. Amel is active in different sectors including health, education, protection, livelihood and environment, and it operates through 40 centres, 16 mobile medical units, 2 mobile education units, and 2 protection units throughout the country.

 Job description

Within the framework of Amel’s project, the social worker will implement community based and social empowerment activities, case management and support the implementation of Amel services with a specific focus on People with Specific Needs (PWSN) among migrant workers.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Implement outreach activities to identify potential beneficiaries as per project’s target requirements
  • Conduct PSS and awareness sessions
  • Conduct mapping exercises on available services under the different needed sectors
  • Conduct all tasks and activities related to Case Management
  • Support in the preparation, organisation and implementation of community-based and social cohesion events as well as other project-related initiatives
  • Participate in and contribute to staff training and capacity-building initiatives
  • Ensure that activities related to Accountability to Affected Populations (Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms, PSEA, Focus Group Discussions, etc.) are implemented
  • Implement and follow-up on empowerment activities
  • Collect, organise and archive project-relevant data (including Means of Verification for MEAL activities and supporting documents for Finance)
  • Write activity reports and provide weekly and monthly progress reports of activities against project targets, including highlighting success stories and best practices
  • Provide timely information and data to the project management team for reporting deadlines
  • Ensure comprehensive reporting and constant coordination with the Field Coordinator to guarantee a coordinated and unified approach across all project activities
  • Attend and participate in internal and external coordination meetings as required
  • Maintain a positive collaboration and relationship with all team members
  • Respect ethical and humanitarian standards while dealing with people in vulnerable situations
  • Perform any other tasks as deemed necessary to support team operations

Requirements, Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in social work
  • Experience in conducting PSS and awareness raising sessions
  • Experience in Case Management and community outreach
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards and understanding of Amel’s values and ethical guidelines
  • Previous experience with migrant workers and knowledge of the Kafala system in Lebanon is an asset
  • Fluency in Arabic and English; French is an asset.

 

Location: Beirut and Mount Lebanon (mainly based in Amel Centre in Bourj Hammoud)

Working schedule: Five days per week. This position includes work on Sundays as required by the project
