Social Worker- Refugee Youth (Males)

Amel Association is currently implementing the program, "Community Development Service to Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Lebanon" in the Amel Community Center in Haret Hreik. The program provides numerous educational and psychsocial services to the refugee population in Beirut. Amel is seeking a dynamic and talented Social Worker to join the team and specifically support activities that will benefit male refugee youth. Under the supervision of the Head of Center, the Social Worker is responsible for the following: Coordinate psychosocial activities for adolescents, youth and men: -          Assess the needs and priorities of the targeted beneficiaries and define suitable activities based on a community-based participatory approach; -          Select and recruit the required trainers for psycho-social activities; -          Follow-up attendance to the sessions, report absences and propose appropriate measures when needed; -          Follow and implement work plan activities related to psychosocial needs of refugees   Social counseling: -          Arrange social counseling for one-on-one cases, namely adults (young men) seeking for assistance in educational and social field; -          Develop and conduct group counselling sessions -          Create, develop and maintain an appropriate network of institutions, NGOs and relevant partners in areas of concern that are identified through the counselling sessions; -          Organize referrals and follow-up cases for individuals that need specialized care.   Monitoring and Evaluation: -          Create and maintain a file for each participant of activities -          Organize a monthly meeting with teachers and trainers -          Update knowledge management system/database after every activity conducted   Outreach: -           Conducting field visits at least once a month to gain better understanding of beneficiary population -          Conduct participatory assessments -          Identify youth and men in need of psycho-social support and provide them with appropriate activities -          Support the Educational Coordinator in identifying youth and men in need of life skills and vocational trainings and educational support.   Reporting / Meetings: -      Prepare regular reports and update Head of Center and Program Coordinator on activities as requested -      Provide support in the preparation of quarterly reports -      Attend and actively participate to weekly staff meeting; -      Participate, as requested, in workshops and coordination meetings intended to build networks in the area of work and improve professional knowledge and skills relevant to assigned responsibilities.   Other duties: -          Assist management staff in planning, budgeting monitoring, evaluation and follow up on all activities of the community center; -          Mobilize community support and participation in the various community based activities; -          Perform other duties as assigned.   Qualifications: -           Degree in Social Work or related field. -            3-5 years experience as a social worker working with disadvantaged populations -            Experience working for a NGO in a similar role -            Fluent/native Arabic and good English -                Strong communication and inter-personal skills   Work Hours:  This is a full-time position, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week.  As most of activities are in the late afternoon, the working hours for this position will be from 1pm-9pm. In addition, the Social Worker will have to participate in activities on weekends on occassion.
