Task #1 – Outreach activities
- Data collection, data entry and data analysis on the situation of children living in the camps/area targeted by the project (number of children, education situation, etc), through field visits, tent visits, interaction with municipalities,stakeholders and public schools.
Knowledges in Excel / database management required
- Identify the educational, psychological and social needs of the Syrian refugees and of the local Lebanese population.
- Raise awareness and information among beneficiaries on opportunities of education (including enrolment procedures to Public School) and information of the coming mobile education unit, with the services provided, the conditions of access, and the schedule.
- Coordinate with local actors and interact with various authorities.
Knowledges of the national framework on Education, both formal and non-formal. Familiarity with enrolment procedures, Back to School Campaigns, different types of Non-Formal Education programs.
Task # 2- Psycho-social counseling
- Identify families and children in need of educational, psychological or social support.
- Identify protection concerns among children and families (Trauma, SGBV, domestic violence...) and provide psychosocial support to cases of concern through the Mobile Education Unit, in collaboration with a professional psychologist. Organize referrals and follow-up on cases.
- Assist in creating, developing and maintaining an appropriate network of institutions, NGOs and relevant partners to build a protection and referral system, in cooperation with other agencies providing education services in the zone.
- Assess the eligibility of Lebanese families to free education services through the Mobile Education Unit according to a set of socio-economic criteria.
Relevant academics and experience in Social Work required, relevant experience in working with child protection / education programs.
Task #3/ Coordinate the activities of the educational team:
- Assess the needs and priorities of the targeted beneficiaries and define suitable activities based on participatory approach, in collaboration with Amel project coordinators;
- Organize and follow-up the work of the educational team (5-15 persons, teachers, animators, psychologist, volunteers) in terms of planning and management, in coordination with Amel project coordinators.
- Follow-up on attendance for the sessions, report absences and propose appropriate measures when needed;
- Develop and follow-up on educational activities, health awareness sessions, and recreational activities for all targeted beneficiaries.
- Develop and follow-up on weekly, monthly and exceptional cultural activities for all targeted beneficiaries.
Task #3 - Monitoring and reporting
-In coordination with the Head of Center and Amel project coordinators, the Social Worker has the responsibility of assessing the activities for the children by designing and filling evaluation tools such as:
o Create a file for each child
o Create relevant tests to assess educational progress
o Organize a monthly meeting with teachers, PSS instructors, and animators.
- Make a weekly and/or monthly report for the project team and donors (attendance, activities conducted, special needs, etc).
- Participate, as requested, in workshops and coordination meetings intended to improve professional knowledge and skills relevant to assigned responsibilities.
Task # 4- Other
- Facilitate field visits with project team, donors or visitors
- Participate in trainings, internal and interagency meetings.
- Work in team with the teachers, animators, psychologist and the community center staff.
-Assist the center in planning, monitoring, evaluation and follow up on all activities of the community center;
- Mobilize community support and participation in the various community based activities;
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
● Experience working with refugees and other groups
● Knowledge of education programs in Lebanon
● Knowledge of NFE, IFE, FE, and educational pillars.
● Experience in working with vulnerable groups is a plus
● Computer skills: Microsoft Office
