Volunteering Opportunity: Teachers

Background and Objectives:  Looking for creative and motivated individuals to facilitate empowerment classes for migrant domestic workers (MDWs) in Lebanon. We are looking for volunteers to teach a range of classes, from arts and crafts, sports, computer skills, stress management, financial literacy etc etc. If you have a skill to share, please do get in touch with us. These classes will help MDWs develop their skills and relax in a safe space surrounded by friends and supporting staff.  Prior to starting the classes, the teacher will receive input on the content to be included in their classes and will be expected to provide easily understandable sessions and friendly relationships with the beneficiaries throughout the duration of the semester. The teacher will be provided with guidance and feedback throughout the semester and will be expected to engage during the teaching process, to ensure that the outcome is relevant and suitable for the target audience. Proposed Outputs and Key Tasks Facilitate sessions on Sundays to MDWs in Beirut based Amel centre High commitment during a four month period starting October 1st and ending January 31. Provide courses in one of the following (or other) areas:                             -Photoshop                             -First Aid                             -Accessories designing                             -Sewing                             -Budgeting and financial engagement                             -Other skills deemed relevant (sports, stress management, arts and crafts etc)                             -Also ‘free time teachers’ are needed for some fun activities and answering course-related questions We also welcome new activity ideas for empowerment class Timeframe The teacher will have 4 months to provide deliverables. During this time, weekly meetings will be held and regular communication should be ensured with the field coordinator. Education and/or experience Previous experience related to the subject that will be taught Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, prioritize work under pressure Ability to convey messages clearly To be able to work to a brief, solve problems creatively and adapt their style to their audience Imagination and creativity Ability to work in multi-cultural environments Good communication and interpersonal skills
