Communications Coordinator

  • Conduct field visits with program staff, record interviews, transcribe and then translate them if needed be for social media posts, digital human-interest stories and blogs (Arabic/English).
  • Assist with event planning and coordination with field and office staff regarding upcoming events and ensuring the coverage and documentation of the event.
  • Provide program support through technical writing presentations: (ex:project fact-sheets, project brochures/leaflets, and stories)
  • Proofread and edit texts when needed for both internal and external material.
  • Prepare media contact lists, drafts press releases as well as mass emails.
  • Support procurement department and the project managers with communication-related logistics ( printing material, distribution amongst partners, ensuring brand guidelines are applied)
  • Prepare Internal Purchase Orders and Payment requests
  • Supports in the development of creative copy for social media including but not limited to; quotes from the field, taglines and campaign messages.
  • Can be involved with the communication manager and media freelancers regarding the production of multimedia communication material including photos and videos.
  • Accompanying guests (Donors, Celebrities, Anera staff) to the field and then drafting a cover/summary of the visit.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Between 1 -2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to write compelling human interest and news stories.
  • Demonstrated ability to write creatively and professionally in both English and Arabic.
  • Interest in photography there is an added value.
  • A higher education degree in a related field (i.e. Journalism, Linguistics, Creative writing) or a strong portfolio in Journalistic or creative writing.
  • Ability to work independently but also following direction from the supervisor and/or project leads. Ability to thrive in a dynamic working environment juggling multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communications (both written and oral) skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Previous experience with social/humanitarian work either through NGO work or news agencies.
  • Knowledge, experience and/or exposure to video production is a plus
  • This position is an office-based post, which requires travel to project sites.
