Community Engagement Officer - (prospective) Bekaa

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS AND ACTIVITIES

  • Lead community mapping and assessment, including identification of partner CBOs, recruitment of volunteers,
  • Lead the implementation of baseline and follow up KAP studies,
  • Assists in the development, promotion, execution and appraisal of community/public health education programs;
  • Works with community groups to assist the public in understanding health issues and meeting WASH needs;
  • Conducts educational sessions with target groups on specific health subjects, such as oral health, hygiene practices, and disease prevention and management;
  • Identifies community resources and target groups for the SWM project in Bekaa;
  • Works with other program staff in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating specific programs or projects;
  • Advises and assists community groups with the implementation of community health promotion and education programs;
  • Assists in conducting evaluation studies and preparing written reports on assigned programs;
  • Maintain proper and updated reports on capacity building and awareness activities;
  • Provides responsive, high quality deliverables by providing accurate, complete and up-to-date information, in an efficient and timely manner;
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders representing diverse cultures and backgrounds;
  • Assist in writing humanitarian stories depicting project achievements;
  • Other relevant tasks as needed.

SPECIFICATIONS

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • A degree in Public Health, social sciences or other relevant field.
  • Sound experience in community mobilization
  • Previous experience in working with refugee communities
  • Experience in development of educational/awareness material is a plus
  • Experience as trainer.
  • Sound data analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Excellent skills in common software packages (MS Excel, MS Word, Power Point etc…).

Desirable

  • Driving skills/ license
  1. EXPERIENCE
  • 2-3 years of experience in community mobilization and health/hygiene promotion.

  • High level of competence in communicating information both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize own workload
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
