Position Title : Field Coordinator – WASH
(Burj Shemali - Tyre)
Reports to : Project Manager
Locations : Burj Shemali Camp - Tyre
Work hours : From 8:30AM till 4:30PM
Period : 1 year [First 3 months is a probation period].
Position Summary:
In response to the ongoing solid waste crisis affecting different communities in Lebanon including refugee camps and gatherings, ANERA is leading a “Community-Based Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion Project” with a focus on solid waste management services in Burj Shemali Camp - Tyre. To that end, ANERA is seeking to hire a Field Coordinator to support the project activities in ensuring the achievement of desired project outcomes. The Field Coordinator will primarily be involved in community assessments, conducting awareness sessions and activities, distribution of waste sorting bins and support in the follow up and monitoring of beneficiaries and partners performance and compliance.
Responsibilities
The consultant field coordinator will be responsible for carrying out the following:
- Coordinate the day to day implementation of activities of the intervention;
- Assist in assessing and reporting the needs and capacities of the local communities with respect to solid waste management;
- Identify target households and manage the distribution of waste sorting bins according to pre-set plans;
- Liaise with community groups on a regular basis including volunteers, neighborhood committees, informal pickers, local authority and other stakeholders;
- Provide accurate and timely data that feed into the achievement of project objectives, including both activities directly implemented by ANERA as well as those implemented by partner organizations;
- Ensure activities are implemented in accordance with plan set by the project manager;
- Maintain proper and updated monitoring of capacity building and awareness activities with proper documentation of such monitoring activities including list of participants, attendance, questionnaires, pre and posttests;
- Assist in the organization, preparation and implementation of trainings, community events and awareness campaigns, emphasizing key hygiene promotion messages;
- Report challenges or problems faced in a timely manner and participate in planning modifications to plans as needed;
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation tasks assigned by the project manager;
- Act as focal point for different project stakeholders;
- Manage and Coordinate local and field visits for project managers or any concerned parties;
- Submit monthly reports on development of activities, results, challenges and achievements of project as per templates;
- Perform other tasks as the need arises.
Skills
- Good computer skills with good command of commonly used software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, email etc…)
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail.
- Demonstrated program administration experience
- Dynamic and pro-active with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations
- Good interpersonal and networking skills
- Familiarity with the area of operation (Akkar/ Palestinian refugee camps)
- Flexible mobility within North Lebanon/Akkar area.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goal
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability
Requirements and Qualifications
- A bachelor or technical degree in the field of environmental sciences, health, social sciences or any other relevant field
- Two to three (2-3) years of related field-level coordination experience
- Previous experience with Local or International NGO’s will be an advantage
Education degree: Bachelor or Technical Degree in health, social sciences or other relevant fields, Previous experience with Local or International NGO’s will be an advantage
Languages
Arabic: Fluent English: Very Good.
Period: 8 months renewable depending on performance and funding. First 3 months is a probation period.
