Food Safety Quality Assistant

The FSQ Assistant will support field-level implementation of meal distribution activities across assigned shelters. The role includes coordinating with shelter focal points, volunteers, kitchen teams, and beneficiaries to ensure smooth and safe distributions, proper documentation, and compliance with operational and safety standards.

The service includes:

  • Supporting daily coordination with shelter management and focal points to verify beneficiary numbers and operational needs.
  • Assisting in hot meal distribution activities inside shelters.
  • Coordinating with volunteers, kitchen teams, and shelter focal points during distributions.
  • Supporting crowd management and orderly distribution processes.
  • Collecting and organizing daily distribution data, beneficiary lists, and feedback.
  • Reporting operational issues, shortages, incidents, and protection concerns to the Field Officer.
  • Supporting logistics arrangements including meal reception, unloading, and preparation for distribution.
  • Supporting communication and awareness activities with displaced communities.
  • Collecting and verifying kitchen dispatch waybills and ensuring required signatures are obtained.
  • Supporting distribution volunteers during field activities.

Key Deliverables

  • Distribution tracking records and documentation maintained accurately.
  • Incident reports documented as needed.
  • Collection of beneficiary feedback and accountability mechanisms.
  • Support to volunteer orientation and field coordination activities.
  • Regular field observations and operational recommendations shared with management.

Timeframe and Reporting

The assignment duration is three months.

The FSQ Assistant will report directly to the Field Officer and coordinate closely with volunteers, shelter focal points, kitchen teams, and operational staff throughout the implementation period.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Relevant higher national diploma or university degree or other advanced technical qualifications.
  • Approximately 2 years of experience in humanitarian field operations, food assistance, or community-based programs.
  • Previous experience in hot meal distribution, emergency response, or IDP/refugee settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple field tasks.
  • Experience working with community kitchens, NGOs, or field teams in emergency contexts is considered an asset.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to humanitarian values, safeguarding principles, and confidentiality.
