Position Summary
The Project Manager will oversee the Community-Based Solid Waste Management Project (CBSWM) to ensure the desired results are achieved, the most efficient resources are used and the different interests involved are satisfied. The project aims at mobilizing communities (individuals and groups) in order to improve community knowledge and practices with regards to solid waste management.
Responsibilities of the Project Manager
Project Management
Develop appropriate project management tools to plan, review and track progress on project implementation as well as on the utilization of project resources;
Ensure proper implementation of activities by staff, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders;
Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality, propose adjustments or developments to maintain project relevance as needed.
Lead relevant needs assessments and surveys, and collaborate with M&E Department in tool development, data analysis and drawing conclusions for programmatic decisions.
Review educational and visibility materials ensuring they are culturally appropriate and clear and responsive to the context,
Ensure project activities are planned and implemented in a manner that creates community ownership to maintain best practices in personal, community and environmental hygiene.
Ensure proper organization, logistics and preparations of trainings, community events and awareness campaigns, emphasizing key hygiene promotion messages;
Manage community mobilization activities and liaise with partners, local authorities, municipalities and other relevant stakeholders;
Advise senior management about issues affecting project implementation, and propose relevant solutions.
Staff Supervision
Direct and supervise project staff, coordinators, assistants and volunteers.
Provide necessary guidance and coaching, and address any relevant training needs
Budget management, reporting and donor compliance
Ensure proper financial management systems are in place and followed in coordination with the admin and finance team.
Manage project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures
Deliver timely and accurate project narrative reports, quarterly reports, Activity Info reports, and final reports.
Representation
Represent ANERA in relevant meetings including UN cluster meetings.
Ensure proper representation of ANERA with key community leaders and authorities relevant for implementation of project activities.
Requirements and qualifications
A higher Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Science, Business Administration or other related fields
Minimum 3 years of experience in project management in the field of humanitarian and development work
Sound experience in community-based initiatives and community mobilization preferably related to WASH activities
Excellent written and verbal communication using Arabic and English languages.
Excellent data management skills (knowledge of MS Excel, Google Drive, Google Sheets is essential)
Demonstrated negotiation and mediation skills and capability to work autonomously
Experience in working in Palestinian refugee camps would be an important asset
