Background:


In response to Lebanon & urgent need to support its economy and reduce energy costs, Anera is implementing Renewable Energy Interventions to address critical sectors. These interventions aim to enhance energy efficiency, lower operational expenses, and contribute to environmental sustainability.

Anera is focusing on the following key areas:


1. Energy for Health: Solar energy solutions to power medical facilities and health clinics, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services.
2. Energy for Water: Solar-powered water pumping and filtration systems to improve access to clean water.
3. Energy for Agriculture: Solar-powered irrigation systems and cold storage for crops to boost agricultural productivity and reduce post-harvest losses.
4. Community Electricity Consumption: Solar energy systems to reduce reliance on grid electricity and lower energy costs for households and businesses.
5. Industrial Electricity Consumption: Renewable energy solutions to support industries in reducing operational costs and carbon footprints.

 

To ensure the successful implementation of these interventions, Anera seeks the expertise of a Sustainable Energy Consultant. The consultant will be responsible for:


 Conducting feasibility studies and energy assessments for various renewable energy solutions.
 Designing and optimizing sustainable energy systems (e.g., solar, wind, hybrid) tailored to specific needs.
 Overseeing the installation and commissioning of renewable energy systems.
 Ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices for sustainable energy projects.

 Providing technical expertise and training to stakeholders on renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency practices.
 Supporting in the design of the loan program, as well as the development of the application, while providing guidance and advice on all relevant aspects as needed, ensuring effective coordination with key stakeholders throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Conducting Feasibility Studies and Energy Assessments

Deliverables:


 Feasibility Study Report: A comprehensive document outlining the viability of renewable energy solutions, including technical, economic, and environmental analysis.
 Energy Assessment Report: Detailed analysis of current energy consumption, potential savings, and recommendations for renewable energy integration.
 Site Evaluation Report: Assessment of site-specific conditions (e.g., solar irradiance, wind speed, grid connectivity) for renewable energy projects.
 Cost-Benefit Analysis: Financial projections, including ROI, payback period, and lifecycle costs for proposed solutions.
 Risk Assessment: Identification of potential risks and mitigation strategies for renewable energy projects.


2. Designing and Optimizing Sustainable Energy Systems

Deliverables:


 System Design Documentation: Detailed engineering designs for solar, wind, or hybrid energy systems, including schematics, layouts, and technical specifications.
 Optimization Plan: Recommendations for maximizing energy output, efficiency, and system performance.
 Energy Modeling Report: Simulation results and performance predictions for the proposed energy systems.
 Equipment Specifications: List of recommended components (e.g., solar panels, inverters, wind turbines, batteries) with technical details.
 Integration Plan: Strategy for integrating renewable energy systems with existing infrastructure or grid.

3. Overseeing Installation and Commissioning


Deliverables:


 Installation Plan: Step-by-step guide for the installation process, including timelines, resource allocation, and safety protocols.
 Commissioning Report: Documentation of system testing, performance validation, and operational readiness.
 As-Built Drawings: Updated system designs reflecting any changes made during installation.
 Handover Documentation: Comprehensive package including user manuals, maintenance guides, and warranty information.
 Performance Testing Results: Data and analysis from system testing to ensure it meets design specifications.

4. Ensuring Compliance with Standards and Regulations

Deliverables:


 Compliance Report: Documentation confirming adherence to industry standards (and local regulations.
 Safety Audit Report: Assessment of safety measures and recommendations for improvement.
 Permitting Documentation: Copies of all necessary permits and approvals obtained for the project.
 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): Report evaluating the environmental impact of the project and mitigation measures.
 Certification Documentation: Proof of certifications (e.g., ISO, LEED) achieved for the project.


5. Providing Technical Expertise and Training


Deliverables:


 Training Materials: Customized training manuals, presentations, and guides on renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency practices.
 Workshop Sessions: Conducted training sessions for stakeholders, including hands-on demonstrations.

 Technical Support Documentation: FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and best practices for system operation and maintenance.
 Knowledge Transfer Plan: Strategy for ensuring stakeholders are equipped to manage and maintain the systems independently.
 Post-Training Evaluation: Feedback and assessment reports to measure the effectiveness of the training programs.


6. Loan Program:


 Design of the loan program.
 Develop the needed tools such as the application.
 Provide guidance and advice on all relevant aspects as needed.
 Ensure effective coordination with key stakeholders throughout the process.

Qualifications & Experience:


 Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
 Experience: Minimum of 5 years in solar energy system design, installation, and maintenance.
 Technical Skills: Proficiency in solar PV system design, energy modeling software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope), and electrical engineering principles.
 Certifications: Relevant certifications are a plus.
 Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Preferred Experience:


 Experience working on community-based or humanitarian solar projects.
 Familiarity with hybrid energy systems and grid integration.
 Familiarity with Loan Programs Mechanisms: In-depth knowledge of how loan programs operate, including eligibility criteria, application processes, repayment structures, and financing mechanisms tailored to renewable energy and sustainability projects.
 Knowledge of local regulations and solar energy policies.
