Assistant Adviser

Position Description

The Assistant Adviser will be part of the team responsible for helping students and professionals residing in Lebanon who are interested in studying at U.S. colleges and universities. The Assistant Adviser will:

 

  • Support the Educational and Scholarship Programs Manager through outreach, promotion activities, application processing, application verification, scheduling student exams, supporting pre-departure orientation, helping with visa applications, travel arrangements, interview preparation, interview process, scheduling of trainings filing, student follow-up, monthly and quarterly reports
  • Support the Educational and Scholarship Programs Manager to ensure programs and events are announced promptly on bulletin boards, Amideast and social media tools; updating advising flyers, assisting visiting college tours to have effective outreach to students in Lebanon.
  • Support the Educational and Scholarship Programs Manager to ensure continuous student alumni engagement by developing and implementing effective alumni programs and activities; communicating with alumni in coordination with supervisors; and update alumni database and systems.
  • Support the Educational and Scholarship Programs Manager in planning, promoting, and conducting activities designed to help as many residents as possible of Lebanon to study including application preparation and submission.
  • Support the Educational and Scholarship Programs Manager to coordinate with students and parents, as needed, to provide high quality support
  • Support the Educational and Scholarship Programs Manager to maintain contact and good relations with school and university representatives around the country
  • Support all other Amideast departments and programs when needed by assisting with accreditation and authentication services as well as welcoming all callers and visitors inquiring about the different programs, providing information about the Lebanese educational system and school/university recognition process by MEHE, verifying degrees from local universities and addressing other inquiries related to the work, supporting team working on computer based testing, marketing and social media communications and campaigns.
  • Implement the annual work plan developed by the adviser to achieve the EducationUSA grant targets and activities
  • Draft required weekly, monthly, or other requested reports, and analyze monthly statistical data and prepare associated reports
  • Perform administrative support tasks, including paperwork, data-entry, filing, etc.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Psychology, Marketing or related field
  • 2 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably for an education-related program
  • Strong preference for previous experience with U.S. higher education
  • Excellent organizational, communication, time management, and leadership skills
  • High attention to details and the ability to multitask
  • Advanced knowledge of and proficiency in use of social media tools (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.)
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize responsibilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
  • Willingness to work on evenings or weekends, as needed, for activities, events, or to meet department deadlines
  • Lebanese citizenship
  • Available to start work immediately
