Communication Specialist

The Communication Specialist is responsible for developing effective communication tools for all programs and services to meet organizational communication and promotional needs, and for providing efficient general office support to the Country Director. The Communication Specialist will handle various responsibilities, which include:  Responding promptly and professionally to general inquiries and requests received by email, phone, social media platforms and walk-in visitors; and communicating news and announcements as needed.  Assessing promotional needs of programs and developing effective media strategy and action plans; writing and releasing press releases; and representing AMIDEAST in media exposure initiatives as appropriate.  Developing, writing, and editing reports, announcements, flyers and any other promotional materials needed; working directly with all departments to identify their needs for promotional and other materials according to donor and AMIDEAST branding guidelines; contacting vendors and distributors to get competitive offers; and handling the distribution of marketing and promotional materials, flyers, annual reports, and greetings.  Enlivening AMIDEAST’s online presence by ensuring that all programs and services are promoted on the website and other social media communication channels (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn); continuously updating the content on sites and the promotional materials whenever needed; and optimizing communication about AMIDEAST and all programs throughout the office space.  Maintaining an updated database with key contact and media lists; developing proactive alumni engagement strategies for all programs and handling regular communication initiatives; capturing pictures, testimonials, and success stories; and participating in events.  Providing administrative support to the Country Director; developing reports and visuals; and handling logistics for meetings and events.

Required Qualifications  Bachelor’s degree in Media & Communication, Graphic Design, Business or related field  1-3 years of experience in communication; experience in project administration is a plus  Knowledge of and proficiency in use of social media tools  Excellent writing, copywriting and analytical skills  Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and communication skills  High attention to detail and the ability to multitask and adapt  Excellent computer skills including MS Office; high proficiency in PowerPoint  Willingness to travel to sites all over Lebanon  Willingness to work on weekends, as needed, for activities, events or meetings  Lebanese citizenship  Fluency in English and Arabic is a must  Available to start work immediately
