Project Description:
Developing Assistance to Schools and Teacher Improvement II (D-RASATI II) is a project that aims at enhancing student achievement in Lebanese public schools by training English teachers, developing extra-curricular activities, providing schools with ICT equipment and training, developing school leadership and building the capacity and tools necessary to support school improvement planning.
D-RASATI II is a 2-years project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Position Description:
AMIDEAST is responsible for increased stakeholder engagement in the public school through leadership development with parents and community involvement. This involves working on two levels: leadership development for school principals and development of school improvement plans.
Senior Coaches are required to assist the schools with their School Improvement Program (SIP) by training, coaching and mentoring school leaders throughout the process. During the pilot phase, Senior Coaches will be working closely with their designated pilot schools; during the roll-out phase they will play a dual role as both a coach and coordinator for a team of other coaches for the specific area they are assigned to.
Specific Job Description:
AMIDEAST is seeking 3 senior coaches on a consulting basis able to perform the following:
Participate in the training of school team members
Mentor and coach members of 3-4 school teams throughout the pilot phase for school review, developing a SIP, and implementing the SIP through conducting training, making bi-weekly school visits, and maintaining other regular communications
Liaise with the SIP component director for technical issues involving the pilot, the trainings and materials, and other key issues related to the school teams throughout project implementation;
Serve as a regional coordinator to train, support, mentor and supervise approximately 5 coaches during the roll-out phase of SIP programming for approximately 40 schools
Submit daily updates on project activities, school teams’ progress, and any key developments or challenges related to school teams or project deliverables to the project Program Officer and/or SIP Director; provide other reports as requested or needed.
Support the Leadership Development component by following up with coaches who will also work with school principals during the implementation phase of this component
Desired Qualifications:
At least a BA degree in Education, Public Administration, Management, Sociology, Psychology or other relevant field with at least 15 years of relevant experience; or an MA in Education Administration and Leadership, or Public Administration, an MBA in Management or a PhD in Education, Sociology, or Psychology with at least 5 years of relevant field experience
Experience in training and/or facilitation/coaching
Knowledge of Lebanese public schools and the public educational system;
Excellent computer literacy (MS Office, internet research, etc.)
Excellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills
Lebanese citizenship
Ability and willingness to commit for the 2-year duration of the project strongly preferred;
Fluency in Arabic and English required; fluency in French preferred
Available to begin consulting work immediately
