INCLUSION AND SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS CONSULTANT – COMPLEX NEEDS for 100 days

The specific tasks under this role include providing technical assistance to:

-Assist in developing a methodology, timeframe and detailed work plan for implementing a pilot project that targets students with complex special needs. The pilot project will define complex needs and provide the basis for discussion for identifying the range of needs that the project will address.

-Set the criteria and identify 3-5 public schools to be part of the pilot project.

-Develop a comprehensive framework that provides an approach and information that helps addressing complex needs in the context of inclusion as per the policy of the ministry. The proposed framework and associated guidelines should include but not limited to:

-Schools’ learning environments.

-Capacity building plans for teachers and schools’ personnel.

-Curriculum and teaching reform

-Develop a report which maps what has already been implemented under the 30-schools pilot project, including good practices and lessons learnt.

-Develop a framework/guidelines to dealing with severe cases and suggest the appropriate solutions for the schools.

-Develop a good practice report that includes lessons learnt from previously conducted study tours to the UK, USA and Portugal.

PROFILE AND SKILLS

-Advanced university degree in education, special education, teaching, or equivalent experience.

-Minimum of 5 years’ experience in inclusive education or special education needs.

-Demonstrates experience in supporting schools and local programs on inclusive education.

-Fluency in Arabic and English. French is a plus.
