Program Manager

AMIDEAST/Lebanon is recruiting a Program Manager to manage the school-based component of a new 4-year USAID program:  Improved Basic Education Services Program (IBESP). IBESP aims to improve reading outcomes for primary-level public school students, strengthen Lebanese institutions to better direct and monitor education, and expand access to safe education for all children, including Syrian refugees. The Program Manager will be based in the project office, and will work closely with other project partners and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) to successfully design and implement program activities.   Position Description   As a member of the IBESP management team, the Program Manager will lead the in-school activities of the “Expanded access to safe and relevant education for vulnerable public school students” component, and will be responsible for ensuring that project activities are achieved according to approved work plans and budgets.   The Program Manager will be handling various tasks, which include:   Provide technical direction and support Manage the planning and implementation of component activities that AMIDEAST is responsible for, including supervision of staff and/or consultants, reporting and other communications of AMIDEAST and its partners working on the component, and working closely with the M&E Director to track the sub-component’s ability to meet its objectives Oversee the design, planning and implementation of all activities related to the sub-component Work closely with the other senior project team members to ensure that professional development for teachers and school staff is an integral piece of IBESP team’s holistic approach to designing and implementing project activities.   Required Qualifications   Master’s degree, preferably in Education; PHD in Education preferred A minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of education, with particular emphasis on promoting improved learning outcomes for students Experience managing large-scale educational development project Experience in designing, leading, and assessing professional development activities  Experience working with vulnerable communities is highly desirable Experience working with Lebanese public schools Understanding of the Lebanese public educational system Excellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills Lebanese citizen Fluency in Arabic and English required; fluency in French preferred Availability to start work in December 2014   Interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter to lebanon@amideast.org with the following in the subject line: “Program Manager”.
