Short-Term Intern (Approximately 6 months)

AMIDEAST/Lebanon is looking for a short-term intern to work on an education-related project. This is expected to be a full-time but short-term position lasting approximately six months. There is the possibility to have three such vacancies. This first role is due to start in September and will continue until the successful candidate transitions to a higher role, either within the project or elsewhere in the education sector. The maximum duration of the service would be until March 2021.

The role of the intern will serve two purposes:

1. To support the development of a high potential, early career education specialist to work in a dynamic technical assistance team.
2. To provide support to the technical assistance team.

Required Qualifications

• Ongoing or completed degree in education, economics, social sciences or other relevant field
• Demonstrably excellent academic record throughout his/her education
• Courses taken to include some/all of the following: governance/public service delivery, public administration reform, public financial management, education.
• Excellent research skills with research focus relevant to Technical Assistance Team work
• Practical knowledge of the Lebanese education system would be beneficial
• Relevant work experience also preferable
• Strong communication skills and ability to deal with various levels of stakeholders
• Demonstrated analytical and assessment skills of quantitative and qualitative data.
• Strong personal organization, integrity and work ethic
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, English and French (or at least two of those three languages).
• Ability to translate written documents/in meetings between Arabic and English/French, where necessary
