The project consists of 3 parts: CFS (Child Friendly Spaces) program, the Parental Awareness Program, and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) for mines:
1. Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) Program
- Setting up and maintaining CFS centers: This includes identifying safe spaces for children, setting up infrastructure, and ensuring that the space remains welcoming and secure.
- Program planning and activities: Designing age-appropriate educational, recreational, and psychosocial support activities that cater to children's emotional and developmental needs.
- Facilitating group sessions: Leading group activities such as games, storytelling, arts, and crafts that promote mental well-being, social skills, and creativity.
- Providing psychological first aid and support: Offering emotional support to children who have experienced trauma, including one-on-one counseling or group discussions.
- Monitoring and evaluation: Tracking children’s progress, participation levels, and assessing the overall impact of CFS activities.
- Collaboration with local communities: Engaging with parents, community leaders, and local organizations to ensure the sustainability and relevance of the program.
2. Parental Awareness Program
- Developing educational materials: Creating resources such as pamphlets, workshops, and online content to inform parents about child development, safety, and well-being.
- Conducting workshops and sessions: Organizing sessions that help parents understand the importance of their role in their children's education, mental health, and protection.
- Training and capacity-building: Providing parents with practical skills on positive parenting, conflict resolution, stress management, and how to support their children’s learning and growth.
- Raising awareness on child protection and rights: Educating parents on recognizing signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, and understanding the legal rights of children.
- Creating a support network: Establishing peer support groups where parents can share experiences, advice, and support each other in their parenting journey.
- Monitoring and evaluation: Gathering feedback from parents to improve the program and ensuring that it addresses community needs.
3. Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) for Mines
- Community awareness campaigns: Educating communities, particularly in conflict or post-conflict areas, about the risks of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and landmines, and how to stay safe.
- Identifying and mapping risk areas: Conducting surveys to identify areas where explosive ordnance is present, and where education efforts need to be focused.
- Designing and distributing educational materials: Creating posters, leaflets, and audio-visual content that inform people, especially children, on how to recognize and avoid dangerous objects.
- Conducting training and sessions: Holding workshops, school programs, and community-based sessions to teach people how to avoid danger and how to report found ordnance safely.
- Establishing reporting mechanisms: Setting up a system for people to report dangerous ordnance and coordinate with local authorities for safe disposal.
- Monitoring and evaluation: Assessing the effectiveness of risk education efforts, adjusting the messaging, and measuring the reduction in accidents caused by landmines and UXOs.
