Financial Manager

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Reviews the financial reporting and purchasing guidelines of the donor;
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors;
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information;
  • Be aware of implementation plans/deadlines and schedules for projects;
  • Develops monthly expenditure forecasts to ensure projects are completed within budget;
  • Ensures timely delivery of financial reports to donors and reports to director;
  • Communicates with the project manager to ensure project implementation goes along with budget guidelines;
  • Reviews correctness of the budget posted on the accounting software;
  • Fills out forms related to advances and reimbursements of the donors;
  • Monitors the organization finance support documents;
  • Controls and analyses budget in coordination with the project manager, and inform Ana Aqra Association’s finance committee on budget status concerns;
  • Prepares the financial report to go along requests for reimbursements;
  • Prepares all required documentation for financial auditors;
  • Prepares the final financial report;
  • Updates the Executive Director, the program director and the finance committee (then board) of the association financial situation;
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  1. Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance;
  2. CPA or CMA is a plus;
  3. Minimum 10 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience (including proven experience as a Controller);
  4. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures;
  5. Knowledge of financial regulations relating to NGOs; 
  6. Knowledge of the NGO operations (knowledge of reporting requirements for donors);
  7. Experience in creating financial statements;
  8. Previous experience in managing project budgets;
  9. Well-developed written and oral communication skills;
  10. Excellent report-writing skill;
  11. Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills;
  12. Ability to work in a team environment, and outside office hours when needed.

                              

 

Working conditions

The Financial Manager works primarily in an office environment. Monday through Friday 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM

He/she may be required to work some overtime hours to attend meetings of the Board and special events.
