Psychomotor Therapist

  1. Background and Justification

Ana Aqra Association targets the educational, cultural and psychosocial needs of underprivileged children of Lebanese public schools and their communities. Our Vision is to make learning accessible to all children. Our main mission is to foster an equitable and sustainable learning environment for everyone. For this purpose, Ana Aqra is currently implementing Psycho social support services for Children and families attending schools affected by Beirut Blast as a response intervention to Beirut Explosion. The overall objective of the project is to provide a psycho social support for children and their parents who were affected by the Explosion in order to cope with stress and enhance their self-care. With the provision of the needed support, the caregivers will be equipped to support their own children in their learning journey. 

 

 

  1. Purpose/objective of the proposed consultancy

The psychomotor therapist will be responsible of identifying and assessing learners with psychomotor delays. S/he will conduct reeducation sessions with the learners based on the assessment findings. S/he will communicate the learners’ progress with the teachers, the families and the education psychologist who is coordinating the project and with any other therapist working with the same child. Parental guidance and recommendations shall be shared as well with the families to support them in developing their children’s skills.

 

  1. Main tasks

The main tasks to be completed by the psychomotor therapist include but are not limited to:

  • Contact parents and schedule remote/ face to face sessions with learners
  • Support parents with tips related to psychomotor development that are tailored based on each child’s level and needs.
  • Support teachers with tips and recommendations that would support them in dealing with students with special needs.
  •  Assess learners with special needs (baseline and end line assessments).
  • Write and share the assessment reports with the education psychologist
  • Listen with respect and attention to the stakeholders
  • Establish a case folder for each student to note the assessment results, plan of intervention, follow up and updates
  • Monitor and follow up the outcome of the therapy provided
  • Conduct reeducation sessions
  • Share learners’ progress with the families, teachers and any other therapist during regular meetings or phone calls.

 

 

  1. Qualifications/specialized knowledge required

The psychomotor therapist should ensure the following:

  • Education degree: Psychomotor Therapy diploma
  • Language skills: Fluent in English and good command of Arabic (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Work experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of working with children in vulnerable communities.

 

  1. Time Frame

The contract begins on November 15, 2022 and ends on November 15, 2023.

 

  1. Outputs/Expected Deliverables

The consultant shall be responsible for the following deliverables.

  • Conducting re-education sessions
  • Assessing learners and reporting
  • Communicating learners’ progress with teachers, families and other therapists through regular meetings or phone calls
  • Support parents and teachers with tips and recommendations
  • Submit progress report to Ana Aqra on completed tasks and progress towards planned outputs.

 

  1. Level of Effort

The consultant will be paid per session conducted.
