Job Purpose
To ensure that ARM’s financial needs are met, through securing funds and increasing financial sustainability, with the support and guidance of the Programs Director.
Areas of Contribution & Related Accountabilities
Work with Donors
The jobholder's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Proposals: drafting proposals in response to calls for funding, in line with ARM’s strategic plan and frameworks, in order to secure funding for planned and ongoing activities and projects.
- Point person for donors: communicating with donors regarding proposals, reports, requests, etc.; creating and maintaining positive relationships with donors; being the liaison between ARM staff and donors.
- Actively searching for new opportunities for donor funding to cover our expenses and to begin new activities or projects within our capacity, as well as to diversify our sources of funding.
- Reporting: overseeing the reporting process to ensure progress is properly reported, all needed information is made available to donors, and all information is accurate.
- Proactive communication with donors: sending periodic updates (besides reports) to inform them of ARM & MCC news and events, invite them to attend, etc.
Financial Sustainability
The jobholder's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Decreasing donor dependency by enhancing current fundraising efforts such as our online monthly donations through GivingLoop.org, and finding other sources of non-donor funds, through maintaining good relationships with current contributors & reaching out to new ones (e.g. Lebanese expats) through online marketing campaigns.
- Forming agreements with private sector organisations: secure sponsorships, in-kind contributions, partnerships or special discounts from select companies (e.g. sanitary supplies, printing services) to help decrease current expenses.
- Creating a system to facilitate and organize in-kind donations to the MCCs.
- Handling current income-generation activities (e.g. ARM space rental) and initiating new ones (e.g. selling products or services made by MCC members).
- Finding new low-risk low-cost methods to acquire funds/assets.
Communications & Work Relationships
Internal Communication
- Regular contact with the Programs Director
- Regular contact with MEAL Officer
- Regular contact with Accounting & HR Coordinator
- Occasional contact with MCC Operations Manager
- Occasional contact with Communications Officer
External Communication
- Regular contact with donors and individual contributors
- Regular contact with private sector and other partners
- Occasional contact with potential partners
Framework, Boundaries, and Decision Making Authority
The jobholder suggests possible solutions to the Programs Director for final decision-making, and takes necessary actions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- University Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Knowledge and understanding of NGO scene in Lebanon.
- Knowledge and understanding of migration issues and the situation of migrant workers in Lebanon.
- Experience working on project plans and/or proposals.
- Experience required: 4+ years.
- Excellent command of English
- Comfortable leading on their own work and working alone.
- Good Microsoft Office & online research skills; fund-raising data management systems knowledge helpful.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strategic thinking, coordinating different people's efforts
- Very good organizational and time management skills, proactive, self-motivated
- Extremely organized and reliable.
