Subject:  Job vacancy at Shamaa Institution: Arab Educational Information Network (Shamaa) Job title: Librarian The Arab Educational Information Network (Shamaa) has an opening for the position of a full time Librarian. Shamaa provides specialists and stakeholders’ free access to the educational publications produced about the Arab countries, by making them available on the Internet. The database includes bibliographic information, abstracts and, when available, the full text of educational studies published in Arabic, English or French. Functions description: The full time librarian is requested to: -      Collect data from available resources. -      Perform original cataloging for books, periodicals, articles, thesis and reports in Arabic, French and English. -      Index studies from the database’s educational thesaurus. -      Responsible for the authority records in the database -      Responsible for the abstract management work chain -      Write procedures and meetings minutes -      Extract statistics for the database system -      Cooperate with IT, website and database developers when needed -      Prepare meetings, sessions and presentations -      Other tasks relative to the position. Qualifications: -      Bachelor degree in Library and information Science. -      Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a library or information department. -      Language: Arabic, English (French is  a plus) -      Technology skills: good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, excel and power point), good Knowledge of an integrated library system (ILS) and Internet use. -      Knowledge of Marc 21 Standard. -      Good communication and writing skills -      Interest in continuing professional development. -      Ability to work under pressure -      Team player Interested candidates should forward their curriculum vitae by email.
