Translator

Background:

The Arab Foundation for Freedoms and Equality is a regional organization dedicated to encourage and support sexual health, sexuality gender and bodily rights movements in the Middle East and North Africa through capacity building, knowledge production, protection and advocacy. Established in 2009, AFE has been a driver of LGBTIQ+ rights in the MENA region supporting national organizations and local, regional and global advocacy to improve the quality of life of marginalized communities in the MENA region.

Purpose of the ToR:

The translator will be responsible of translating AFE materials that include - but not limited to – reports, website content, social media content, toolkits, videos and posters. The translator will be responsible for delivering the highest quality of translation services from and to English, Arabic and French. The translator will be also responsible for making sure that the translated documents are cohesive, well structured, well-written, and ready  for publication.

Specific Objectives:

• Producing a 100% accurate translation to and from English, Arabic and French;
• Ensuring language excellence and proofreading content;
• Ensuring quality check and proofreading of translation;
• Working within the required deadlines;
• Upholding confidentiality and completing the translation perfectly and promptly.

Qualifications and Experience

• An academic degree in Translation.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Translator.
• Exceptional writing skills in Arabic, French and English languages.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure to ensure work is achieved to a high standard and in a timely manner;
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with SOGIE and gender-related terminology.
