Preservation Lab Intern

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist archivist in gathering and documenting metadata
  • Assist in cleaning and upkeep of housed collections
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of preservation materials and equipment stock
  • Follow up with the maintenance of the storage and collections management at the instruction of the Archivist 
  • Research and propose relevant preservation methods and tools
  • Collaborates with Archivist on all necessary tasks
  • Contribute to collection and practice-related input to programming content, general reports and communication.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ practical or academic experience in photography, art history, museum studies or related field
  • Familiarity with the history of photography and photographic practices is a plus
  • Strong manual skills and should be able to perform moderate physical activity
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team; contributing positively to team culture
  • Very good command of verbal and written Arabic and English. Working knowledge of French
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word and Excel.
