About AiW

The Arab Institute for Women (previously Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World) at the Lebanese American University was established in 1973 to focus on advancing women’s empowerment and gender equality through research, education, development programs, and outreach at the national, regional and international levels.

Objectives of the Podcasts

This project is funded by the Dutch Embassy in Lebanon for the purpose of creating a virtual safe space for the LGBTQ community, providing information and support to LGBTQ youth.

The LGBTQ Platform aims to provide LGBTQ youth in Lebanon and in the region with sex-positive information regarding their lives. The podcasts will be designed to be informative and will cover different topics relevant to LGBTQ youth. They will serve as a source for awareness-building and capacity-building, providing important and relevant information in a friendly and positive manner.

Minimum required qualifications and experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a managerial position
  • Interest and knowledge of podcast culture
  • Ability to manage a multi-faceted team
  • Excellent working knowledge of English and Arabic
  • Knowledge of LGBTQ matters is a plus and will be favorably evaluated
  • Ability to deliver project on time and within budget
  • Experience in the Audio/Visual field

In addition to the above, applicants must be familiar with one or more of the topics below:

  • Queer love
  • Language
  • Local LGBTQ history
  • Queer sexual health
  • Local LGBTQ culture
  • Aligning religious views and gender identities
  • Lesbian sexual health
  • Trans* safety and security
  • The history and application of Article 534

Deliverables:

Up to 14 podcast episodes, 7 in English, 7 in Arabic (Deliverables depend on expertise level and how many episodes will be assigned to the selected candidate)

Responsibilities:

Along with the Project Manager, the Podcast Manager will be responsible for:

  • building the team that will work on each episode
  • developing ideas for episode based on the general topic
  • briefing and following up with the researchers
  • contacting and securing hosts for each episode
  • contacting and securing guest speakers for each episode
  • scheduling and attending the recording and editing of each episode
  • marketing and publicize each episode
  • engaging with listeners on social media platforms
