Research Officer

Position Reports to Program Manager Job Purpose Summary The Research Officer has a role in ensuring that ANND research agenda is being implemented as planned. Key Responsibilities and Accountability At the Research level: Close coordination with Lead Research Coordinator Work in close coordination with the Lead Research Coordinator(s) and the researchers in the research unit. Assist in planning , designing and managing research objective Undertake the assigned research work specifically and not limited to: Trade and investment policies Monitoring IMF and World Bank Macroeconomic policies Inter-Arab Trade relations Design and implement research methodologies and Data collection tools. Ensure quality control of ANND publications.   At the Programmatic Level: Close coordination with program unit Maintain a close coordination with the program manager, executive director and program staff as needed to accomplish program goals. Contribute to the setting of the research agenda of ANND programs in close cooperation with the lead research coordinator, the Executive Director and the Program Manager. Ensure that ANND research agenda is being implemented as planned (respecting timeline and policy directions). Ensure proper interface between ANND research work and advocacy and capacity building efforts. Assist in establishing new partnerships and cooperation with civil society components (trade unions, private sector, research centers, think tanks, and universities across the Arab region and globally. Assist in enhancing and promoting the research capacities among ANND members. At the Managerial Level: Close coordination with Executive Director and Office manager Assist in the process of researchers’ selection and expand the network of researchers ANND works with. Contribute to enhancing the dissemination plans of ANND publications. At the Communication Level: Close coordination with the media and communication unit Update the communication office with ANND research work. Update ANND members and board of various developments and political dynamics related to international and regional research in the areas of interest to ANND. Work Experience Requirements 3 years of working experience in the research field Knowledge on social and economic rights and instruments Previous working experience in the Arab region Knowledge about macro-economic policies and of international financial institutions policies and their impact on social and economic rights.   Educational Requirements Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in social sciences.
