Disability Inclusion Assistant

General objectives and tasks:

General Objectives:

  • Empower Job Seekers with Disability to build their careers, engage in economic development and contribute to the recovery of affected businesses.
  • Strengthen youth with disability in overcoming physical and educational barriers, limiting them to compete in job markets.
  • Change mindsets of businesses in Lebanon through embedding a diverse and disability inclusive culture.

 

Tasks:

1-Contribute to the effective inclusion of People with Disabilities in the workplace and community:

  • Conduct individual assessment for job seekers with disabilities approaching the Employment Office to determine their capabilities, reasonable accommodations and/or assistive technologies needed, to ensure their full inclusion and ability to fully perform in the designated job.
  • Prepare detailed individual assessment reports, and report it to the Disability Inclusion Officer.
  • Advise technically, in coordination with Disability Inclusion Officer, the Employment Office Team on best practices for the job matching of job seekers with disability.
  • Coordinate closely and follow up with the Employability Lead and Employment Office Team on operational work to ensure the inclusion in the workplace.
  • Coordinate with the career coach within the Employment Office to assess the development of the job seekers with disability.
  • Conduct the Disability Inclusion Gap Analysis for each of the SME and identify the needs in terms of accessibility, culture, policies and procedures, etc.

 

2- Assist in the program’s research and development:

  • Draft application forms, assessment checklists, and training content following the guidelines of the Employment Program.
  • Participate in seminars, webinars, round tables, workshops on disability issues in Lebanon.
  • Suggest innovative ideas/activities related to disability inclusion and decent work for people with disability.

 

 

3- Promote disability diversity and inclusion through a variety of strategies:

  • Prepare and conduct specialized assessment of accessibility for both public and private spaces, in coordination with the Disability Inclusion Officer.
  • Propose the adaptations and reconstructions needed to adjust the workspaces to become accessible.
  • Identify individual reasonable accommodations and prescribe assistive devices and technologies for each job seeker with disability.
  • Prepare reports on assistive technologies prescriptions, in addition to accessibility assessment reports and recommendations reports.

 

Position requirements:

Professional Skills:

  • Proficiency in types of disability, models, approaches and best practices.
  • Proficiency in accessibility practices, and Universal Design standards.
  • Previous experience in the inclusive employment of people with disabilities.
  • Proficiency in writing skills mainly in English language.
  • Keeping up with technological advancement, especially with assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
  • Passion to work towards disability inclusion.

Working schedule: Monday till Friday from 09:00 am till 05:00 pm.

Contract type: 11 Months, with possibility of extension.
