Background and Context

The project “Strengthening the Resilience of Vulnerable Women, Young Adults, and Men in Lebanon by Improving Their Livelihoods and Increasing Food Security” is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It aims to:

1. Enhance food security and resilience through sustainable agricultural practices.

2. Empower women and youth by providing education, training, and economic opportunities.

3. Improve water resource management to support sustainable agriculture.

Within the project, arche nova is supporting food security and livelihood resilience among vulnerable populations in Lebanon through sustainable agricultural interventions. One of the project’s core components involves supporting the establishment of productive backyard gardens that contribute to household nutrition, reduce dependency on market purchased food, and generate potential income through surplus production.

This initiative targets households with access to limited land and involves equipping them with the knowledge, resources, and tools needed for successful home gardening and small livestock rearing.

To ensure an effective and sustainable intervention, arche nova seeks to provide the identified backyard gardens with Chicken, in order to satisfy the desired impact of the intervention.

Therefore, this call is seeking suppliers to provide the determined number of chickens to the 39 identified locations, with the technical specifications as per the Bill of Quantity (BoQ) annexed to this document (Annex-02).

Objectives of the Assignment

The Supplier shall deliver chickens to the identified locations above within 15 days from the awarding of contract. The supplier shall deliver chickens with an age of 6-8 months, and shall be selected for their good health, strong vitality, and suitability for egg production or meat. These chickens must be free from any visible signs of disease or parasites, and should have a robust, active appearance with healthy feathers and clear eyes.

The chickens shall be housed in well-maintained, bio-secure conditions, and must be vaccinated and certified disease-free.

For their transportation to the sites, they should be delivered in well-ventilated transport crates to ensure their safety and comfort during transit.
