Local Coordinator

The project, which will be implemented in the area of Baalbek-Hermel, is a 3-pillar intervention that places youth-based social cohesion mechanisms at the centre of the initiative, in strong connection with protection and livelihoods components. The intervention aims at reducing social tensions and expanding protection spaces for target communities by adopting a comprehensive approach which focuses both on engaging youth as actors of social change in the displacement-affected communities and on improving local stakeholders’ capacity to build networks and respond to community challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the day to day implementation of the activities of the intervention;
  • Liaise with the communities, local authorities, stakeholders, suppliers and private sector;
  • Liaise with partner's staff and ensure a smooth implementation and coordination of the activities;
  • Support the PM in reporting tasks and in implementing the M&E plan of the project;
  • Ensure activities are implemented in accordance with the workplan;
  • Report challenges or problems faced in a timely manner and participate in planning modifications to plans as needed;
  • Assist in the organization, preparation and implementation of trainings, community events, awareness campaigns, and outreaching;
  • Support the coordination of field visits for project managers, donor or any concerned parties;
  • Support the administrative management of the project;
  • Other tasks might arise throughout the implementation of the project;

Skills:

  • Good computer skills with good command of commonly used software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, email etc…);
  • Strong oral and written communications skills (Arabic and English);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail;
  • Demonstrated administration experience;
  • Dynamic and pro-active, with strong problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations;
  • Team player with good interpersonal and networking skills
  • Flexible mobility within Baalbek-Hermel Governorate;
  • Familiarity with the area of implementation, cultural sensitivity and adaptability;

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor degree in the field of intervention or demonstrated working experience in the field of intervention;
  • 3 years of related field-level coordination experience;
  • Familiarity with AAP, Conflict sensitivity and Do-No-Harm approach;
  • Fimiliarity with referral mechanisms;
  • Previous experience with Local or International NGOs in Baalbek-Hermel, especially Social Stability and Livelihoods programs.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, both oral and written.
