Freelance, Part-Time Historian/researcher With Archival Skills

Job description Identify, digitize, catalogue, and index a variety of works produced by Aref El Rayess and other related documents Input all data related to the works of Aref El Rayess and related documents into an existing database Label the works and documents with inventory numbers, and re-house them, with the works organized in a strategic system for easy access Store materials in accordance with common guidelines, ensuring they are kept in good condition Conduct research as requested by Chair and/or Managing Director Assist scholars, researchers, artists, and other visitors with finding the required information within the archives Additional qualifications: Preference for a minimum of two years’ experience working with archival collections Preference for knowledge of digitization best practices and standard Strong written and oral communications skills and ability to function independently and as a part of a team Fluency in both spoken and written French, Arabic; good command of English is a plus Good organizational skills, a high level of concentration, and attention to detail Good communication skills and ability to interact with museum colleagues, archives colleagues, donors, the general public, academics, students, scholars, historians and writers Note: Candidate must be able to work in a closed, windowless environment initially (new archive space is under construction)
