Enumerator (Survey Interviewer) - Beirut

OVERVIEW Pursue is a Lebanon-based development consultancy committed to empowering local communities and beneficiaries in conflict, post-conflict, and fragile areas through the provision of evidence-based programmatic interventions, policy recommendations and training services. Pursue’s approach relies on combining mixed-methods research with strong, consistent engagement with local communities and stakeholders to bridge the gap between the aspirations of local communities and the priorities of governmental and multilateral actors, thus informing the design and implementation of relevant programming. Utilising innovative quantitative and qualitative social science methodologies to generate data, we analyse and synthesise results, brief clients and beneficiaries, deliver interventions and measure impact. Pursue’s main areas of focus include refugees and IDP issues, youth empowerment, sexual and gender-based violence, institutional reform, democracy and governance, countering extremism, and human security. Pursue has had a registered office in Lebanon since 2010 employing a multinational core staff and has access to a wide network of national, regional, and international consultants. The company has an established track record of delivering projects and programmes for diverse clients in Lebanon, including the UK Government, US Government, UN agencies, the EU and others. Pursue is currently looking for Enumerators to conduct surveys in Beirut over a period of four to six weeks, as part of a field study it has been contracted to carry out by a major client. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Locate and visit households as per a defined sampling plan. Conduct an average of ten surveys per day until completion of survey.  Ask questions in accordance with instructions to obtain various specified information. Explain survey objectives and procedures to respondents and interpret survey questions to help respondents’ comprehension. Assist individuals in filling out surveys. Review data obtained from interview for completeness and accuracy. Identify and report problems in obtaining valid data. Coordinate movements with the direct supervisor and report on daily activities. Undertake basic security assessments prior to visiting a given area. Attend training workshops and coordination meetings as required.   REQUIREMENTS  Previous experience in conducting large-scale surveys. Holder of a College (a Bachelor is a plus). The ability and willingness to travel to all areas within Beirut. Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic (English is a plus). Strong interpersonal skills. Candidate must be resident of Beirut with strong local knowledge of the area.
