Field Supervisor

ABOUT PURSUE Pursue is a Lebanon-based development consultancy committed to empowering local communities and beneficiaries in conflict, post-conflict, and fragile areas through the provision of evidence-based programmatic interventions, policy recommendations and training services. Pursue’s approach relies on combining mixed-methods research with strong, consistent engagement with local communities and stakeholders to bridge the gap between the aspirations of local communities and the priorities of governmental and multilateral actors, thus informing the design and implementation of relevant programming. Utilising innovative quantitative and qualitative social science methodologies to generate data, we analyse and synthesise results, brief clients and beneficiaries, deliver interventions and measure impact. Pursue’s main areas of focus include refugees and IDP issues, youth empowerment, sexual and gender-based violence, institutional reform, democracy and governance, countering extremism, and human security. Pursue has had a registered office in Lebanon since 2010 employing a multinational core staff and has access to a wide network of national, regional, and international consultants. The company has an established track record of delivering projects and programmes for diverse clients in Lebanon, including the UK Government, US Government, UN agencies, the EU and others. Pursue is currently looking for a Field Supervisor to supervise the work of twelve enumerators and organise focus groups, as part of a field study for a major development firm.  MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Manage a team of twelve enumerators and coordinate their movements. Assign selected clusters, as per sampling plan, in light of logistical requirements.  Coach enumerators on best practices for conducting surveys. Maintain contact with interviewers, and take reports after each work session. Help enumerators solve problems in the field. Lead on recruitment for focus groups.  Assist in continued training of enumerators, as necessary. Follow-up on the security situation in areas of interest and provide daily feedback to enumerators. Maintain the security and confidentiality of all information collected from respondents. Provide constructive feedback to supervisors about interviews and data collection procedures. Participate in field trips regularly.    REQUIREMENTS A minimum of two years’ experience in managerial positions.   Previous experience in working on large-scale surveys. Previous experience in facilitating FGDs. Degree in relevant field of study – Social Science, Political Science, Development Studies, etc. The ability and willingness to travel to all areas of Lebanon. Excellent command of English and Arabic. Strong interpersonal skills.
