Psychosocial Support and Counseling:

  • ⁠Conduct psychological assessments to identify children experiencing trauma, emotional distress, or learning-related psychological barriers.
  • ⁠Provide individual and group counseling sessions tailored to children’s emotional and psychological needs.
  • ⁠Develop trauma-informed intervention strategies to help children manage anxiety, stress, and trauma-related behavioral issues.
  • ⁠Implement play therapy, art therapy, and other child-friendly therapeutic approaches.

 

Behavioral and Emotional Support:  

  • ⁠Design and implement emotional regulation and social skills programs for children with behavioral challenges.
  • ⁠Support educators in identifying and managing children’s emotional and behavioral difficulties in the classroom.
  • ⁠Provide training and guidance to teachers on trauma-informed teaching strategies.

 

Case Management and Coordination:

  • ⁠Work closely with case managers to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to child well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of children’s progress, assessments, and intervention plans.
  • Refer children requiring specialized psychiatric support to external services when necessary.
  • ⁠Participate in case review meetings and coordinate interventions with social workers and educators.

 

Reporting and Supervision

The psychologist will report to the Project Manager and Project Coordinator and work in close collaboration with case managers, social workers, and educators to ensure a holistic approach to child well-being.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, or a related field.
  • ⁠Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a psychologist with children, preferably in conflict-affected or marginalized communities.
  • ⁠Experience in trauma-focused therapy, play therapy, or expressive therapy.
  • Strong understanding of child development, emotional regulation, and trauma-informed care.
  • ⁠Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • ⁠Fluency in Arabic; knowledge of English and/or French is an asset.
  • ⁠Strong ethical standards and commitment to child protection and confidentiality.
