Accountant & Administrative Assistant

The following tasks will be the responsibilities of the candidate:

  • Ensure that adequate financial management routines and systems are in place and that AJEM's accounting practices and standards are adhered to; as well as that the requirements from donors, auditors and authorities are fulfilled, especially in relation to purchasing, authentication and payment procedures;
  • Maintain the accounts complying with relevant Donor and AJEM Procedure in collaboration with the Financial Officer and the Project manager;
  • Ensure the management of the data and the appropriate filing of the electronic and hard copies of the financial documents and reports;
  • Maintains payment record of all invoices received;
  • Maintains payee statement records for all suppliers;
  • Assist the finance department and senior accounting staff members with various tasks, including preparing budgets, reports, records, and statements;
  • Reconcile finance accounts and direct debits.
  • Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Financial Director;
  • Assist the Procurement and Fleet Management Departments;
  • Manage the office supplies inventory;
  • Attend staff meetings.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountant, Business or Administration
• 1-3 years of experience
• Experience working with NGOs is preferred.

Soft skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs – Advanced skills in Excel;
• Knowledge of “Dolphin” accounting system is plus;
• Excellent communication (email and phone) skills;
• Detailed and organized approach;
• Initiative taker;
• Self-motivated, proactive and innovative style;
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
