Biodiversity Researcher

The AUB-Nature Conservation Center  (AUB-NCC) is looking for a biodiversity researcher to join its team. The researcher will coordinate an expected project related to biodiversity conservation and Nature-Based Solutions in the MENA region (Project is still pending confirmation). The researcher will provide day-to-day coordination, follow-up, research, write up and input consolidation for a regional working group on biodiversity conservation and nature-based solutions. They will support AUB-NCC in the operationalization of the project, and coordinate to secure logistics and communications needs. The researcher will also contribute to project development and internal research at the center.

 

DUTIES PERFORMED:

 

Conducts literature and desk reviews on nature-based solutions, biodiversity preservation, ecosystem management and environmental policy in the MENA region

Organizes online and in-person meetings according to schedule

Reports on meeting outcomes by regularly sending minutes and action points

Facilitates exchange between external partners and contributors

Leads the writing and development of project proposals for scientific research under the supervision of the project coordinator

Oversees the activities and progress of the various teams involved

Represents AUB-NCC in related trainings and consultations

Produces progress and final project reports

Disseminates information about the project with the support of AUB-NCC Communication Officer

Coordinates with AUB-NCC Operations Manager to secure logistics

Follows-up with project coordinator to ensure that all deadlines are guarantee the quality of deliverables

Supports in organizing and entering data into the research database

Supports in writing grants and other relevant documents

Other Ad hoc tasks

 

WORK CONTACTS:

Regular interaction with Donor and team members, including the Project Coordinator, Operations Manager, Communications Officer, Researchers, Grant Writer, and Subject Matter Experts.

 

Independence of Operations: 

Reports to the Project Coordinator and Associate Director with regular guidance to ensure research objectives align with AUB-NCC's strategic vision. Collaborates with fellow researchers, interns, and volunteers working on the same research project and initiatives at AUB-NCC. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Has prior knowledge in Nature-Based Solutions

Possesses a minimum of 2 years of research experience using different methods, preferably in ecosystems management, biodiversity conservation or project coordination

Master’s degree in environmental science, biodiversity, ecosystem management, or a related field is a strong plus.

Delivers outcomes in a timely and well-organized manner

Exhibits strong project management skills, confirming the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Displays strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 

Exhibits proficiency in Arabic verbal communication skills

Has experience in working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, both internally within the organization and externally

Preferably, holds knowledge of the academic setting

Experience working in a regional or international context is a plus
