Senior Researcher

AUB-NCC is expecting the launch of a study focusing on qualitative social, urban and environmental assessment of three rural areas in Lebanon. As such, we are creating a roster of Senior Researchers who can lead this study under the supervision of the center's experts. The purpose of this role will be to lead and facilitate high-quality research projects on environmental degradation in Lebanon.  This role is for a potential upcoming project, the job and salary are not yet confirmed.

Main duties:

- Employ qualitative methods, including desk reviews, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews, to gather relevant data.

- Synthesize information derived from qualitative research to generate insights and identify trends specific to quarry sectors in Lebanon.

- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of qualitative data through rigorous quality checks.

- Prepare clear and concise reports on research findings derived from qualitative methodologies.

- Communicate results effectively to both internal and external stakeholders

- Manage project progress and timeline.

- Coordinate between the project team members.

- Adapt to evolving research requirements and respond flexibly to unforeseen challenges during the research process.

Qualifications:

- Hold a master’s degree in the fields of Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Possess a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience collaborating with local government bodies, civil society organizations, and the community.
- Demonstrate proven expertise in leading local research projects, preferably in the environmental and sustainability context.
- Exhibit strong project management skills, confirming the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Showcase strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Display proficient verbal communication skills in Arabic.
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, both internally within the organization and externally.
- Knowledge of academic setting is a plus.
