Agricultural Technical Officer

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Provide direct technical support to dairy farmers, focusing on improving milk production and quality enhancement.
• Support the establishment and operationalization of a milk collection center at the municipal level, ensuring its sustainability and proper management.
• Facilitate coordination between dairy farmers and the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) for access to veterinary services, medicine, and vaccine provision for livestock.
• Participate in municipal-level coordination tables to support the dairy sector, offering technical expertise and recommendation as well as supporting the establishment and smooth operationalization of Multi-Stakeholder Agricultural Coordination Committees in the target UoMs of Joumeh and Al-Fayaa;
• Assess the shortage of technical skills among dairy sector workers and coordinate with MoA and technical and vocational training (TVET) schools’ directors and representatives and contribute to the preparation and delivery of TVET on farm management and dairy processing, aiming to enhance the skills and productivity of local farmers;
• Work closely with farmers, MoA personnel, UoMs and other local stakeholders of the dairy value across the regions of North and Akkar, to provide guidance and technical assistance promoting quality implementation of activities and fostering synergies among farmers, cooperatives, and relevant institutions to improve overall dairy production and sector sustainability;
• Collaborate with the M&E department and facilitate data collection and validation through adequate tools (Assessments, database, attendance lists, surveys and other);
• Conduct relevant research and provide technical propositions to support and enhance project’s impact;
• Support in daily implementation and provide comprehensive regular updates and reports to the field coordinator;
• Maintain up to date activities archive (both in hardcopies and electronically);
• Demonstrate an understanding of the integrated approach of the program.
