Main tasks and responsibilities
A. Assessment
• Participate in conducting assessments and in defining the resources required for effective program implementation. Participate in the planning, implementation, and conception of the activities
• Liaise with PM to identify weekly and monthly priorities and develop movement plan
• Raise delays, challenges, and needed resources for smooth implementation
• Compile and revise data collected from Collective Shelters and WASH implementation sites and share feedback with PM
• Participate in the development of tools
• Participate in the development and update of SOPs
B. Project Implementation
• Plan and supervise the implementation of the WASH activities according to the set objectives and AVSI standards
• Make sure the objectives for the activities under his/her responsibility are achieved and the deadlines are met
• Partake in the whole WASH activities implementation process from Technical Assessment to implementation and monitoring
• Regularly visit the activities’ sites
• Identify and anticipate any risks and constraints related to the WASH activities and propose alternate strategies to the Project Manager
• In collaboration with the WASH Project Manager and the field assistants, adapt the beneficiary selection methodology as necessary, in particular, the beneficiary selection criteria
• Assess the relevance of activities, the effectiveness of interventions, and their appropriateness in light of changing circumstances and the needs of populations, propose adjustments to programs if necessary
• Prepare requests using AVSI’s financial tools and follow orders in collaboration with the logistics department
• Support the Project Manager with the assessment of human needs, logistical and financial resources needed at different stages of the activities
• Ensure that the safety of persons and equipment at intervention/project sites is guaranteed
• Partake in the updating of tools for monitoring financial, logistical and operational activities (Operational Follow-Up, Project Planning Monitoring, Budget Follow-Up, indicators follow-up)
C. Team management:
• Ensure proper capacity building of the field assistants and volunteers in regards of activities and tools
• Prepare the planning of the team under his/her supervision
• Organize regular meetings with field assitants.
• Manage and support the team under his/her responsibility
• Identify any training needs and implement training activities in accordance with operational requirements
• Participate in the development of the WASH team’s capacities
• Prepare weekly attendance, movement plan, with weekly and monthly implementation plans
D. Monitoring and Evaluation:
• In collaboration with the WASH Project Manager and the MEAL team adapt the monitoring and evaluation tools and methodologies as necessary
• Support the monitoring and evaluation surveys conducted by the Field assistants with the support of MEAL
• Report on progress to his/her line manager and team, flag any difficulties encountered in project implementation, and propose improvements or reorganization depending on needs
• Complete regular visits to the field to ensure proper implementation of activities, determine gaps and follow up on implementation by the field teams
• Undertake monthly analyses and transmit the analyzed data to his/her line manager
• Ensure proper archiving of all the documents, tools and training materials of activities
E. Reporting
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all field activities to the Project Manager using the required formats, databases, and platforms
• Compile, verify, and submit project progress information from field teams, raising any issues affecting implementation immediately
• Prepare administrative documentation for authorities, partners, and beneficiaries, and contribute to drafting donor reports, annexes, and MEAL referral updates
• Support the preparation of reports, and schedules related to project activities progress
