Child Protection Officer

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Receive high risk child protection referrals for children in need of child protection case management. Priorities intervention according to risk level, assess received cases and take immediate action to address urgent situations if needed.
  • Ensure that informed consent/assent is taken before opening a case.In compliance with best-practice, international standards in CP response and national SOP, provide case management services to boys and girls at high risk if applicable.
  • Provide age-appropriate counseling to children and their families throughout the case management process if applicable.
  • Ensure the social, physical, psychological and emotional well-being of the children.
  • Send referrals to relevant agencies according to the action plan developed.
  • Store and file the data ensuring the confidentiality of the information collected and the services provided according to the minimum standard.
  • Ensure the utmost confidentiality of case management data and information when using the CPIMS throughout the case management process; including protection referrals.
  • Ensure close coordination with community-based PSS teams in order to ensure children and their caregivers are referred from case management to CBPSS and vice-versa.
  • Identify safe spaces to provide Focused PSS (FPSS) that adhere to the quality checklists for center-based and outreach activities shared at the inter-agency level.
  • Deliver Focused PSS in line with global and national inter-agency SOPs/standards.
  • Adapt the location and timing of sessions, content and approach of the focused PSS program to the needs and availability of the participants including children with special needs.
  • Organize and lead information sessions with children and caregivers on key topics, such as safety and security, health and hygiene, and child rights.
  • Facilitate awareness sessions on child protection risks, child safeguarding, and PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), tailored to the needs of both children and caregivers.
  • Coordinate all the child protection activities across the centers and conducting regular visit to monitor the workflow between staff and the safety, well-being, and protection needs of children and caregivers.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers.
  • Raise gaps in CP response services and referral protocols to the project Manager.
  • Ensure that child safeguarding standards are being upheld and that protection concerns are identified and addressed promptly.
  • Immediately flag concerns to safety to the project Manager throughout the delivery of activities process.
  • Actively contribute to the developing and updating of the service mapping and referral pathway
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly work plans and reports in a timely manner.
  • Share the plan of Child protection department between all team members and follow up on the implementation.
  • Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on problems in the implementation of the program.
  • Participate in the development of technical documents, presentations, and reports and documenting achievements and lessons learned.
  • Perform other duties within areas of responsibility as requested by the supervisor.
  • Must be willing to work across different center locations (Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Nabatieh).

  Requirements:

  •  University degree in psychology, social work, education, social sciences and/or other
    relevant degrees
  • 2 years of experience as a child protection caseworker, completed training on National CP Case Management SOPs
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, and safety of client at all times
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
  • Excellent case management and psychosocial support skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Comfortable in a multicultural environment, flexible, and able to handle pressure well
