BLN Teacher

Basmeh & Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.

Job Purpose: Working on the provision of education to refugee children out of school or at risk of dropping out from the formal education system to be referred to the ALP program.

Major Activities :

  • The Basic Literacy and Numeracy (BLN) program will follow the unified curriculum and Standard Operating Procedures developed by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE)
  • Develop lesson plan (daily, weekly and monthly).
  • Ensuring that the Lessons are being created updated and uploaded on the Education Platform Tabshoura
  • Creating and sending educational videos to the developed virtual classes
  • Responding and correcting to homework and activities sent by the students.
  • Preparing a file for each child to document the homework and activities.
  • Filling the tracking tool and other forms
  • Filling each child’s attendance
  • Responsible for submitting daily timesheets to the line manager.
  • Participate in the training and follow up meetings conducted BLN coordinator

Archiving all educational documents (lesson plans, worksheets, translated materials, means of verification, etc.) with soft and hard copies, organizing them, and submitting them to the BLN coordinator

  • Ability to deal with multi-level classrooms
  • Assessing the children (pre-test and post-test)
  • Data entry on a special scoring sheet
  • Promoting a positive and constructive atmosphere with students and teachers by encouraging, supporting, and respecting them
  • Attending workshops and training decided by coordinators. 
  • Responsible for students during outings organized by AS and coordinators.
  • Ensuring students are acquiring the lessons through diverse and innovative, and interactive teaching tools.

Responsibilities with the Protection team:

  • Ensure that all the staff recruited are familiar with B&Z’s Code of Conduct and protection standards;
  • Ensure quality and minimum child protection standards are implemented and respected in all activities, including the child safeguarding policy;
  • Ensure that all the staff is able to identify at-risk cases and refer them to the social workers in the learning center.
  • Identify and refer cases of children/beneficiaries who are identified to have any protection risks.
  • Monitor and report any incident that happens.

Education & Experience :

  • University degree, certification, or license in teaching
  • 1 to 2 years of working experience in education or teaching

  • Active listening, understanding, communicating effectively and discussing with supervisors and parents children's learning problems and psychosocial requirements

  • Fluent in Arabic and English both spoken and written.
